Volunteer for Community Accounting Aid & Services (CAAS)

Community Accounting Aid & Services (CAAS) provides free professional accounting and financial counseling to economically disadvantaged businesses, individuals, and not-for-profit organizations in Connecticut.

CAAS needs volunteer CPAs to:

  • Assist individuals who qualify for CAAS help and are not currently being served by an accountant.
  • Work with very small service organizations and retail businesses within our local communities.
  • Teach adult education programs for new business owners.
  • Conduct seminars on accounting and financial management for not-for-profit organizations.
  • Conduct tax return preparation clinics for low- income individuals.  Many of those attending the tax clinics are able to benefit from the earned income credit and receive significant refunds, thanks to the CAAS volunteers.  Tax clinics are usually conducted in partnership with local community service organizations that host the events.
  • Serve on the boards of directors of not-for-profit organizations.
