Nominating Committee Presents Slate for 2007-2008 CSCPA Board of Directors

In accordance with the CSCPA bylaws, the Nominating Committee proposes the slate of individuals portrayed on the following pages to lead the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants for the 2007-2008 activity year.  Nominees for the Board of Directors will be presented for election at the 2007 CSCPA Annual Meeting on May 16 at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville; the terms of the appointees to the 25-member Advisory Council will automatically become effective with the Annual Meeting. 

As a result of the recent bylaws change overwhelmingly approved by the CSCPA membership, the Board of Directors will comprise seven members; six are put forth here by the Nominating Committee, with the seventh to be the Chair of the Advisory Council, who will be elected by that body within 60 days of the Annual Meeting. 

Members of the 2006-2007 Nominating included Patricia M. Poli, Chair; Joseph A. Equale, Charles J. Frago, W. Robert Fulton, Theresa L. Renner, Jay Sattler, and Anthony J. Switajewski.

Individuals can serve up to two consecutive years on the Board of Directors if nominated, reelected, and willing, but such a commitment is not requisite.  Election as president-elect would be independent of the two-year rule.  Consequently, persons elected as President-elect could serve as many as four consecutive years on the Board of Directors.  There is no requirement that a person serve in any other capacity with the Society prior to nomination for a position on the Board of Directors. 

The Advisory Council’s charge is to counsel the Board of Directors as appropriate, and to appoint a nominating committee each year.  All Advisory Council positions are for one-year terms with the possibility of reappointment.  At least half of those appointed to the Advisory Council must be currently chairing a CSCPA committee or interest group, or, at the discretion of the Nominating Committee, the designees of these chairs.
