If you’re looking to become certified as a Connecticut CPA, you're looking for the Ethics Exam.
The Ethics Exam is a self-study paper exam that is required for certification as a Connecticut CPA. The AICPA scores the ethics exam and sends the scores to the State Board of Accountancy.
Problems purchasing the exam online? Download the order form (pdf document) and fax it to 860-258-4859. If you have any questions, please contact Seminar and Facilities Coordinator Roberta Hunt at robertah@cscpa.org or 860-258-4800, ext. 219.
If you're a practicing Connecticut CPA, you need to complete four hours of ethics training every three years.
Let CSCPA be your one-stop shop for ethics training - no matter which method of presentation you choose.

Why do I have to take an ethics course?
In 2006, the Connecticut State Board of Accountancy implemented a mandatory four-hour ethics requirement. This requires Connecticut-licensed CPAs to take four hours of ethics training every three years, with the first three-year cycle ending June 30, 2008.
Your next four hours of ethics must be completed between July 1, 2008 and June 30, 2011.
Does my ethics training have to be classroom group study?
No, the Connecticut State Board of Accountancy does not require your ethics training to be classroom group study. CSCPA has several training options available to you. Throughout the year, we have classroom group study programs from the AICPA and Loscalzo Associates. These four-hour programs will be taught at a variety of locations across the state for your convenience. In addition, we have several self-study and online products available. If you cannot make it to a live presentation, click on the links above for self-study and online training options.
Is my four-hour requirement in addition to my annual 40-hour CPE requirement?
No, your ethics training may be included within your 40-hour requirement.
What topics must be included in my ethics course?
Your ethics training may be met through any course covering ethical behavior, the understanding of State/National Code of Conduct, Professional Conduct, or state licensing regulations.
What if I also must comply with an ethics CPE requirement in another state?
Your Connecticut ethics training may be met through courses you take in another state, as long as the above-mentioned topics are covered.
Do I need to report my ethics CPE credits to the state immediately?
No, you’ll report your ethics credits on your State Board of Accountancy CPE report in December.
