Connecticut CPA Exam Candidates No Longer Pay $100 State Exam Fee

Effective August 26, 2008, CPA exam candidates no longer have to pay a $100 state exam fee. Previously, all applicants were required to pay the $100 fee each and every time he or she made an application.

The “regulation rewrite” was two years in the making for the Connecticut State Board of Accountancy and required changing standards and regulations in order to “do the right thing,” Connecticut State Board of Accountancy Executive Director David Guay said.

The purpose for the regulation change was twofold: help out the applicants facing the high fees and curb the administrative bottleneck the Board was encountering on a daily basis in collecting and monitoring the fees and reconciling them with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA).

“This is a real win-win for everyone,” Guay stated.
