Become a CSCPA Advisory Council member! The CSCPA Advisory Council is a group of 25 members who help shape the future of the CSCPA by counseling the Board of Directors and providing input on topics important to you, Download a fact sheet (pdf). |
Advisory Council members are appointed by the Nominating Committee as either representatives of an organized CSCPA group (i.e., a committee or an interest group) or as a member-at-large.
This past year, Advisory Council members weighed in on:
- The Connecticut CPA certification experience requirement
- CSCPA’s facility needs
- The structure of CSCPA special events
As an Advisory Council member, you’ll act as an ambassador to the CSCPA membership, sharing Advisory Council news and developments with other members at committee and interest group meetings or anytime you come in contact with other members.
What’s the time commitment?
Advisory Council members attend three half-day meetings held each year in June, September, and January. There’s no advance preparation – you’ll simply be asked for feedback on Society programs and invited to tell us what’s on your mind!
Are there additional opportunities?
If you wish, serving on the Advisory Council can be a gateway to other task force(s) that may be created during the year for a specific purpose (e.g., the Facilities Task Force to find a new CSCPA office).
- In June, the Advisory Council elects its chair for the upcoming year. That chair automatically becomes a member-at-large of the Board of Directors. If you are elected chair, you’ll be asked to attend seven half-day Board meetings.
- In September, the Advisory Council elects the CSCPA Nominating Committee for the next year. Advisory Council members may also be elected to the Nominating Committee. If you volunteer and are appointed to the Nominating Committee, you’ll participate in three meetings or conference calls, each lasting between one and two hours.
