Annual CPA Careers Conference
This conference, held each autumn and sponsored by the CSCPA Student Outreach & Career Awareness Committee, is held on a rotating basis at one of the four-year colleges or universities in Connecticut (sites vary year to year) that offers accounting as a major. The event is designed to provide high school students with the opportunity to learn about the CPA profession and to find out what a Certified Public Accountant actually does in his or her career. Invitations are mailed out to all high schools in Connecticut in early September, giving educators the opportunity to bring interested college-bound juniors and seniors.
Save the date! The 2010 High School CPA Careers Conferences are scheduled for:
-Friday, October 22, 2010 at University of New Haven; and
-Friday, October 29, 2010 at University of Connecticut

Accounting Lesson Plans
"Takin' Care of Business" Education Handbook: 15 AICPA-produced lesson plans are intended to show students that accounting goes beyond "debits and credits" and that CPAs are engaged in all aspects of business, not just auditing and taxation. Each lesson plan is based on education learning standards set forth by the National Business Education Association (NBEA) and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM). Each lesson plan also has skill-based components called Performance Measures and Standards—the skills that students should develop prior to graduating high school.
